New interiors, Tincleton, Dorset
The brief was to design sleek interiors with a classic-traditional feel, on a tight budget.
The previous scheme incorporated a large variety of different finishes and styles, so an important strategy in the new scheme was to simplify this to a very limited palate, primarily, oak and slate accent materials, together with white painted background finishes.
A new oak floor was laid throughout the main open-plan living/dining/kitchen space, bringing a unity and common language to this area, whilst we used a black slate floor in the hallway, to contrast with new white-painted and simple stair balustrading.
White sanitary fittings with clean lines were installed in the bathrooms, together with black slate floors and solid oak vanity tops. A new lighting scheme was installed throughout, and all door leafs replaced with ledgered and boarded doors in solid oak.
In addition, we used simple strategies to de-clutter the spaces, such as creating a utility cupboard under the stair, which removed a washing machine and tumble-dryer from view in the open plan kitchen space.
