New Housing Scheme for a Housing Association, South of England This scheme seeks to redevelop lnd which was previously used for garaging and has since become disused. It will provide 26 three-bedroom houses and 12 two-bedroom flats as a mixture of rented and affordable housing. Although this is a linear site, the design has sought to create a sense of community. As part of this strategy, the scheme incorporates a small recreation ground and green space which will act as a focal point for residents, encouraging interaction across the whole cross-section of the community. In addition, house and flat types are mixed through the development to make the community all-inclusive. The scheme has also been designed to minimise crime and to provide a safe environment by providing good external lighting and overlooking of both public and private areas from the most used habitable rooms. Materials will be cost-efficient but hard-wearing and easily replaceable, whilst at the same time creating a sense of identity with a contemporary architectural style. |
